Browns finalize rookie deals with Chad Thomas, Antonio Callaway

BEREA– Browns draft picks DE Chad Thomas and WR Antonio Callaway signed their four-year rookie contracts as OTAs began on Tuesday. That duo became the fifth and sixth members of Cleveland’s 2018 draft class to finalize their contracts, joining OL Austin Corbett, linebacker Genard Avery, WR Damion Ratley and DB Simeon Thomas.

A trio of draftees remain unsigned at this point, including first rounders Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward and second-rounder Nick Chubb.

Cleveland used the the 67th overall pick in last months draft to select Thomas out of Miami. Spotrac estimates Thomas’ contract to be worth about $4.06 million based on the rookie pay scale. Included in that is a signing bonus worth about $1.056 million.

As for Callaway, the fourth round pick’s deal is worth about $3.125 million, including a $710,000 signing bonus. Both player’s 2018 salaries will fall under the rule of 51, which allows teams to stay under the cap during the offseason by only accounting for the top 51 salaries on the roster for that year.
