Baldwin Wallace Snaps Three Game Losing Streak with 28-17 Win Over Wilmington

Written by: Brandon Soeder-Penner

After a stretch of tough losses for the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets, the team was able to gut out a win on the road. The Wilmington Quakers played host, and found themselves outmatched by a high octane ground attack from BW.

Sophomore running back Hayden Stinnett led the way by scoring his first career touchdown, and managed to find pay dirt two more times. Stinnett finished the day averaging nearly six yards per carry, racking up 94 yards and three touchdowns.

Leading the game in rushing yards was sophomore quarterback Jake Hudson, who got the start behind center for the second week in a row. Hudson ran for 150 yards on 20 attempts, good for 7.5 yards per carry. He also went 11-17 through the air for 131 yards, one interception and a touchdown.

Receivers Tyler Wolf and Bryon Cook each had 41 yard days, with Cook catching the sole passing touchdown for the Yellow Jackets.

On the defensive side of the ball, BW forced one turnover on an interception by safety Trypp Washington. Washington was also the co leader in solo tackles with seven.

The Yellow Jackets were also able to get to the quarterback twice with sacks from linebacker Same Groff and defensive lineman John Allen.

Despite losing by 11 points, Wilmington’s stats were comparable to BW’s. Running back Chase Manica ran the ball 18 times for 102 yards, finding the endzone once early in the first quarter.

Quarterback Luke Creditt was Wilmington’s second leading rusher, gaining 44 yards on the ground on eight attempts.

Creditt also put up 190 yards through the air, going 23-30 with a touchdown and a pick. Wide out PJ Meyer led the receiving game with 71 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive lineman Darren Milligan sacked the quarterback twice, once being assisted by defensive end Narcisse-Murphy. Cornerback Brandon Roberts came up with Wilmington’s one interception off of Jake Hudson.

It appears that after losing for three straight weeks, Baldwin Wallace got back to playing the way we expected them to.

The defense held its ground a week after giving up 63 points to Marietta, and the offence did what it had to do to come out with the win.

BW will host Muskingum University at Finnie Stadium on October 22nd. The Homecoming game for the Jackets will kick off at 2:00 p.m.
