Backup Quarterbacks in Cleveland – the Most Beloved Man in Town

Luke McCown, a fourth-round rookie, was a fan favorite until he actually played and showed he wasn’t quite ready to be an NFL quarterback yet. He was run out of town after four winless starts and has since carved out a lengthy NFL career as a backup.

Derek Anderson had fans clamoring for him over Charlie Frye because he came off the bench in one game and rallied the Browns to a win over the Chiefs … then actually rewarded those fans with a Pro Bowl season in 2007.

However, his tendency to throw interceptions at inopportune times caused many to clamor for first-round pick Brady Quinn … until Quinn showed he wasn’t actually the second-coming of Peyton Manning, which had fans clamoring for more D.A. or even – gasp – Ken Dorsey!
