Guardians

All pretty good in my old ‘hood…and it needs to get better! Guardians Edition

The Cleveland Guardians knocked off the Chicago White Sox today 5-0 to get out of the Southside at 2-2 and will continue the road trip with 3 in Houston starting Monday evening.

Today’s win was needed in every sense of the word. We all know the baseball adage “Split on the road and win series at home” and no doubt had the Guards bats not shown up on my milk carton under the heading “MISSING” the good guys would have left Chicago with a 3-1 edge if not for a sweep.

No, this lineup is not composed of All Stars at every position or even bats as dangerous as the White Sox but remember, Chicago is TWENTY-ONE games under .500 while Cleveland is right at the FIVE HUNDO mark. Why is that as I truly feel the Pale Hose have a better lineup than guys with “C” on their caps? Chemistry is a BIG reason as Chicago has very little camaraderie. Media friends in the Windy City have told me that at charity events the team will show up but have little interaction with each other and truly there are very few “Bro Hugs” going around. By the way I would have to say Tony La Russa was not the problem after all. Yes, the Guardians have Tito and I have noted this before…they play for each other and truly care about each other.

What else happened today? Jose Ramirez woke up and was everything he needs to be. I truly feel whiffing in the 2nd with the bags juiced slapped Jose across the face as it should have, and the result was 2 Home Runs. Jose has also been scuffling on the field since dropping a pop-up vs the Phils a week ago and Mr. Lapara’s glove was also golden today. No doubt the trade of Amed Rosario got to the perennial MVP candidate and here’s hoping Steven Kwan and Noah Syndergaard can fill that void as they both were “chewing the baseball fat” with Jose in the dugout!

Aaron Civale was bobble head worthy again and BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY came through as they should…De Los Santos, Stephan and Clase who is THEE Big Brother of the group due to his pitching prowess.

I must also shout out Will Brennan for some “Myles Straw like ” catches in LF and speaking of the new Whipping Boy, Myles himself, let it be noted that yes he is hitting .235 and Andres Gimenez who seems immune from any criticism is hitting .237! Andres was brilliant with the glove today and as I have noted in the past, especially before Omar Vizquel started hitting, that a great defensive player adds ten to fifteen points to their average by taking away runs from the other team.

Time to go to Houston and take 2 of 3 from the cheatin’ astros! Yup there are still a few criminals on that team and a note to Jose Altuve…your cheating will keep you out of the Hall!

As always enjoy every sandwich and please take care of yourself and each other. It’s your world, pay attention. For now ADIOS AMIGO long may you run!
