Three Keys: Browns host Carolina Panthers as they look to continue Panthers losing streak

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns will look to continue a streak Sunday. They will look to continue the Carolina Panthers losing streak to five games. The Panthers come into town with a record of 6-6 on the season. The Browns are coming off a disappointing loss to the Houston Texans. The Browns are 4-7-1 on the season.

Here are the three keys to a Browns victory:

1. Get to Cam NewtonNewton has been playing extremely well this season. He will have career highs in some categories before this season is over. A particular one is his completion percentage. His current percentage is 69.5% as of now. Putting pressure in Cam’s face could be one way to disrupt the Panthers passing game.

2. Stop the Panthers running game: Cam Newton presents similar running traits that Browns faced with DeShaun Watson last week in Houston. He is able to elude the pocket better than most quarterbacks given his size and height (6 ft, 5 in, 245 lbs.). He is very hard to take to the ground. Christian McCaffrey has rushed for 863 yards, 5 touchdowns this season. He has 663 yards, 6 touchdowns in the passing game. McCaffrey can do it all. It gives the Panthers every option in the playbook.

3. Baker Mayfield: Last week in Houston, Baker threw three interceptions in the first half. It’s pretty simple, he needs to protect the ball and get back to making smart decisions. Keeping the Panthers high powered offense off the field will be important. Controlling the tempo and dictating the pace of the game is what should spell success for the Browns.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. on FOX. This game is consider EVEN this week.
