Take A Look At The Cleveland Browns 53 Man Roster And Transactions

As of 4pm Saturday afternoon, The Cleveland Browns finalized their 53-man roster and are inching closer to the first game of the regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles. The roster will remain at the mandated 53 players throughout the season with 46 players eligible on game days. Here are the moves that were made this weekend.

  • The contract of veteran WR Marlon Moore was terminated.
  • 19 players were waived: DL Kenton Adeyemi, DL Chigbo Anunoby, DB Pierre Desir, RB Jahwan Edwards, DB Mikell Everette, OL Dan France, WR Taylor Gabriel, DB Charles Gaines, OL Garth Gerhart, TE Connor Hamlett, TE J.P. Holtz, WR Darius Jennings, OL Kaleb Johnson, OL Mike Matthews, LB Jason Neill, P Michael Palardy, DB Eric Patterson, P Kasey Redfern, LB Justin Tuggle
  • DB Justin Gilbert was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2018 sixth-round pick.
  • Veteran P Britton Colquitt was signed.
  • WR Josh Gordon and DL Armonty Bryant, who are both suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season, do not count toward the 53-man.
  • The team claimed five players off waivers: RB George Atkinson, DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, DB Marcus Burley, DE Tyrone Holmes and LB Corey Lemonier.

This is how the full 53-man roster breaks down:

  • Quarterbacks: Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown, Cody Kessler
  • Running backs: Isaiah Crowell, Duke Johnson Jr., Raheem Mostert, Terrell Watson
  • Fullback: Malcolm Johnson
  • Wide receivers: Terrelle Pryor, Andrew Hawkins, Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Jordan Payton, Rashard Higgins
  • Tight ends: Gary Barnidge, Randall Telfer, Seth DeValve
  • Offensive line: Joe Thomas, Joel Bitonio, Cameron Erving, John Greco, Austin Pasztor, Shon Coleman, Spencer Drango, Alvin Bailey
  • Defensive linemen: Danny Shelton, John Hughes III, Stephen Paea, Carl Nassib, Xavier Cooper, Jamie Meder;

  • Defensive backs: Joe Haden, Jamar Taylor, Tramon Williams, Trey Caldwell, Tracy Howard, Ibraheim Campbell, Rahim Moore Sr., Jordan Poyer, Derrick Kindred, Don Jones
  • Kicker: Patrick Murray
  • Punter: Britton Colquitt
  • Long snapper: Charley Hughlett

All 14 members of Cleveland’s 2016 draft class are currently a part of the 53-man roster. They join two undrafted rookie free agents and a number of first- and second-year players. As rare as that is, it’s even more rare that all first round draft picks that the Browns selected from 2011-2014 are no longer on the team after Justin Gilbert was traded to the Pittsburg Steelers yesterday afternoon. More moves can be made but as of right now, these are the 2016 Cleveland Browns that will take the field on Sunday, September 11th.

Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Tom Farmer started loving sports at a very young age. Some of his first memories were playing baseball and basketball for his local recreation center. Tom's passion for football came in his early teenage years when the Browns came back in '99. Tom is a season ticket holder for the Cleveland Gladiators that play in the Arena Football League. He will forever represent his Cleveland teams from the womb to the tomb. Cleveland rocks!
