Calder-Cup 2

CLEVELAND– Coming off a win last night to secure home-ice for The Calder Cup Playoffs, The Lake Erie Monsters were poised to take to the ice  on Friday night to play The Charlotte Checkers. The Monsters defeated The Checkers on Thursday 3-1.

The first two goals came in for The Checkers from Brock McGinn at 8:01 and 10:25 of the first period. Who would have expected that these would be the only points put up by the visitors from Charlotte.

Alex Broadhurst answered back with a rocket of a shot into the net with the assistance of Steve Macarthy and Dillon Heatherington with 4:20 remaining in the first period.

The game plan is to rest the starters that performed at an exceptional level last night on the ice. The goalie match-up tonight was Joonas Korpisalo for The Monsters and his counter-part Daniel Altshuller for The Checkers between the pipes.
