This is the toughest district 1-through-10 of any in Northeast Ohio.
Five or six of these teams could be the #1 seed in other districts in the area.
For that reason, we couldn’t put a favorite above the others. Some would argue Solon (14-2) is the favorite, but Aurora, Hudson, Nordonia and Twinsburg all played tougher schedules and beat up on each other all season.
For a team like #6 Kenston (one of the best teams in the WRC) to be a sleeper tells you how deep this group is.
Both of the semifinals will be must-see baseball. A potential #4 Nordonia vs. #5 Twinsburg game will have tons of talent on the field and that game is a coin toss.
Bedford (10-5) is an underdog in this group, but they’re significantly better than other eight seeds in the area.
The winner of #7 Shaker Heights vs. #10 John Hay won’t be an easy out, either. The Raiders (8-9) held their own in the GCC and upset Twinsburg in late-April.
John Hay has some impressive wins on its resume along with playing a great season in the Senate League.
The most intriguing matchup of this group is a potential 2 vs 3 Aurora-Hudson semifinal. It would be the “Suburban League Championship” between the American and National Division winners.
Both teams played tough schedules and put talented squads on the field.
This district could go a number of ways, but Solon, Aurora and Hudson have the most “favorable” matchups early in the tournament… Not that any of those matchups will be easy.
When it comes to this district, sit back and enjoy the ride. If you’re able, get out to Hudson for some high-level baseball on May 18 and 19.
