Nick Mankins Runs For 3 Touchdowns as Valley Forge Defeats Lakewood 47-6 on Thursday Night

Nick Mankins ran for three touchdowns and 4 additional Valley Forge players scored as the Patriots defeated the Lakewood Rangers at Byers Field in Parma on Thursday night, 47-6. Valley Forge opened the game strong as they took a 20-0 first quarter lead.

First, Valley Forge took a 6-0 lead with 8:17 left in the first quarter when Nick Mankins scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night. 

 

Patriots Quarterback Dan Kiewel then scored less than two minutes later to give Valley Forge a 12-0 lead.

 

Valley Forge scored their third touchdown of the first quarter on a 7-yard touchdown run by Ben Farson to take a 20-0 lead with 1:42 remaining in the first quarter.

 

Valley Forge went ahead 27-0 with 5:40 left in the second quarter on Daniel Scheffler’s 22-yard touchdown run.

 

Alex Symons got Lakewood on the scoreboard when he returned a kickoff for a touchdown with 5:26 left in the first half to make the score 27-6.

Nick Mankins ran for his second touchdown of the night to put Valley Forge ahead 33-6 heading into halftime.

Valley Forge added two more touchdowns in the second half to make the final score 47-6.

Scoring second half touchdowns for Valley Forge were Nick Mankins (third touchdown of the night) and Evan Tappe.

 

Valley Forge will next face University School in a week seven matchup while Lakewood will play Buckeye.
