NEOSI’s Sleepers For 2018 NFL Draft

LB Josey Jewell Iowa

His 4.82 40 time at the combine is going to hurt his stock since he is not an athletic LB. Aside from that though he has what I want from a LB. He has quick instincts and reaction time and was consistently towards the top of football in tackles with 126, 124, and 134 tackles at Iowa. Add in 11 passes defended and 5 sacks his senior year and now he is an all-around LB. I would let his tape speak more than his combine performance. His production and combine numbers remind me of one of my favorite sleepers to come out in recent drafts, Chris Borland. Although he only played one season in the NFL before retiring he had 108 tackles and 2 interceptions in just 14 games his rookie season and he only started 8 of them. I think Jewell can end up having similar numbers in the NFL.
