NEOSI Previews the NFL’s NFC from Top to Bottom Heading Into 2016

Victor Cruz

NFC East

1.) New York Giants 10-6

The Giants get Victor Cruz back and added Starling Shepard to the WR group. Odell is still a freak but getting more guys that can take advantage of what Odell opens up for them is nice. Eli has won two Super Bowls so he knows what is needed from him. New York spent big bucks in free agency to make the defense better. In a bad division the defensive upgrades is what sets them up for the win.

2.) Washington Redskins 10-6

I think the Redskins can make some noise and their offense is gearing up for a big year. Kirk Cousins had a breakout year and is playing for a big money contract this season. He has a lot of options to throw to including Jordan Reed, DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Josh Doctson, and Jamison Crowder. Washington then spent big money to get Josh Norman at CB. While Norman helps, the rest of the defense isn’t quite up to par to guarantee them a playoff berth in the loaded NFC. The offense should be fun to watch though.

3.) Dallas Cowboys 7-9

Another year and another Romo injury. At least Dak looks better than what Dallas had last year when the other QBs went 1-11 without Romo. Jerry Jones has a new toy in Ezekiel Elliott who should get a ton of carries behind the NFL’s best line. The defense is hurting with several pass rushers suspended to start the year and a questionable secondary to begin with. They are a better team than what we saw last year but Dak is the wildcard. I’m looking at the six to seven win range for the Cowboys.

4.) Philadelphia Eagles 5-11
The Eagles have one ugly QB situation. They threw a boat load of guaranteed money at Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel and then trade up to get Carson Wentz who will likely sit all year. They weren’t very good last year and all of those moves did nothing to really spring them forward. They also had to spend a lot of the offseason trying to undo all the bad contracts and mistakes Chip Kelly left them with. Those setbacks mean it is going to be a bad year for Eagles fans.
