Munch Musings from E. 53rd and Hamm Avenue on a sports Sunday in #TheCLE!

I need to start these musings with a disclaimer! Since per Browns fans the Ravens, especially Lamar Jackson, were doing as Joey Bats said about Tribe pitcher Ryan Merritt, “quaking in their boots” and frightened of the Browns defense, the guys from Baltimore did not call me to do security for them as they were aware of my past. I had been (in my day) on security details for Pete Townsend, Peter Frampton, John Mellencamp, Brady Quinn, Stephen Furst (yup Kent Dorfman in Animal House) amongst others but the Ravens did not need me to escort them in and out of the Stadium. Odds are I prolly would have said NO as I do not like the Ravens. I like them less than the Steelers although they have some players I respect greatly in the game of football.

Now for Sunday’s game the Ravens were without top running back JK Dobbins, 2 WR’s in OBJ and Rashod Bateman AND their LT (you know who he blocks) Ronnie Staley who was joined on the sidelines with the starting RT during the game. For certain Jim Schwartz D would wreak havoc and put the fear of the Maker in the rat birds. Now I must ask “Then how the heck was the final score Baltimore 28 Browns 3”? I know that a rookie QB DTR was starting but again I was told “ship Dobbs out and let DTR be DeShame’s back up. He’s better plus Watson does not get injured or hurt!” BTW yesterday, Dobbs against the real defense of the 49ers, was 28-41 for 265 yards, 2 TD’s, 0 picks and a rating of 102.2!

One fact was neglected when people in stores, on the streets and elsewhere would stop me and say, “Browns have a Super Bowl Defense.” I noted “they have not played a GOOD QB yet (Burrow was injured) or a potent offense” but of course I was labelled a hater. Reminder…I AM NOT A HATA, JUST A FACT STATA! Now I mentioned the players Baltimore was missing so how could they possible have the following stats;

– rush for 131 yards

– pass for 186 yards (that is a pedestrian number but talk about effective)…

– Lamar Jackson was 15-19, 189 yards, 2 TD’s plus 2 rushing, no picks and a 142.5 rating!

Mark Andrews had 2 TD passes (The TE is still killing this team) and on his last one browns players were getting out of the way, so they did not have to tackle him!

I was also told that on the radio PxP (told as I do not listen) it was mentioned that Jackson scored on a play that was exactly the same as last week. The announcers were watching film, what about the team? That’s right, they are so good there is no need.

Also need to talk about the Browns starting QB. Yup a headline in the Sunday morning PD read “Contusion? Watson won’t let there be any confusion.” Now the injury was a contusion on the QB’s right shoulder. Yeah, that has to hurt like heck and this tough guy has played through worse in college and with the Texans. One difference…he has his money now. I know when we’re getting played and this dude is doing it. Contusions can be painful, simply awful, but again, most said he would shake it off. Take a “dart’ (painkilling shot) and get out there and ball. Plus of course he’s a leader so he would rally the troops at halftime. Oh wait, he was too busy blocking folks on twitter. One more note and I will ask you to respond. Friday night DeShame was out on the town. Do YOU feel he could have helped his shoulder by receiving treatment? You make the call!

Let’s add this and truly you wonder why this team has turned me away along with the fans. A dear Brother of mine who I love told me after the game “remember the Indians traded Yandy Diaz, the AL batting champion for Jake Bauers.” What does that have to do with the football team getting abused at home? That is called delusion and deflection. Bring up a mistake another team made to take the attention off the football team. Dang, I do not get it.

For the rest of the fans, you cannot blame the refs for this loss, or the D being gassed as YOU told me this team has depth so there will be no drop off. What is it then? Haslam culture, karma? All I know is I raked leaves and went hiking with the dog until the Guardians game as I needed to see a true winner, TITO FRANCONA, in his last game.

As always enjoy every sandwich, take care of each and pay attention, it’s your world. For now, Adios Amigo…long may you run.
