Munch Musings: “All pretty darn good in my old neighborhood!”

All pretty darn good in my old neighborhood!

Yup one of the places in this great city that shaped me was at this intersection. We lived on the southwest corner at 3990 JoAnn Drive. My Dad and I would walk the dog nightly down JoAnn, around the playground to Wendy then across Kares and back home. I received most of my wisdom on these walks and yes, some of this words from my Dad resonate with me today! I have shared many of these with you before the main one being that I was never to disrespect a women mentally, physically or in any other manner and if I did, I would no longer be allowed to use the name “Bishop,” Nuff said on this!

Let’s look at the Cleveland Browns win yesterday over the San Francisco 49ers. I just corresponded with some folks in at 76 Lou Groza Blvd and they were concurring with me that they “were in shock” and “thought there was NO WAY the Browns would triumph.” Not negative Neds, just realists and not delusional.

Here are some thoughts on the game…

Now here is the bottom line and the only way to look at the WIN! We can nitpick (which I will do shortly) but as Earle Bruce taught me “A win is a win is a win.” WHOOMP THERE IT IS!

Why was the WIN shocking? PJ Walker was awful, He extended a few plays but if not for Ford’s two 14 yard runs plus two flags vs SF, Hopkins FGs never happens. BUT IT HAPPENED! What is a win? On the last drive Walker did not complete a pass.

Yes, the Browns defense is good. Not very good on the last drive as Purdy drove the Niners right down the field into FG range, but it played good. The best part is the team and individuals are not telling is how great they are after every game ala Greg Williams! Sure, Samuel and McCaffrey going out took some bite out of SF but that is part of the game.

I must shout out Amari Cooper, a Man’s Man! Saturday Amari joined Wyatt Teller and his family out to dinner, and I was impressed that both men insisted on getting back to the hotel by check in time. Teams stay at hotels as a team the night before games. Also, after a disastrous pick by Walker that lead to a SF TD, Cooper immediately sat next to PJ on the bench. That’s a guy I could root for playing the game.

On to Walker, who looked decent compared to DTR and as I was reminded DeShone Kizer, which is not really saying much. Did he do enough not to lose the game? That’s a toughie as the Browns DID win but he contributed very little. The saddest part is I could actually follow the team as I once did and cheer for them if he or someone else was the QB!

Now I have full disclosure of something as I share with you, my family. I NEVER bet against the Browns until DeShame joined the team. Even if I knew I could win some cash I did not bet against them. He made is easy. You also know one of my other dislikes, and it is rather unhealthy, is ttun, yes, the u of m. I DID bet on the Niners yesterday giving the points AND with a Browns fan (yup a fat, drunk and stupid one!) I got a straight wager which would have offset any losses. Now who screwed me? A former u of m player! YES, Moody missed two FGs in the game and there you have it, cost me some $$.

I also know the drill on the Monday after a Browns win which I am now immune from as win or lose, I feel the same, but no matter how tired you are, how overserved you were, your step is lighter, and the morning is brighter. I am happy for you!

As always enjoy every sandwich, take care of yourself and each other and it’s your world, pay attention. For now, ADIOS AMIGO…long may YOU run!!
