Lake County Captains Win Third in a Row Over Sky Carps

The Lake County Captains defeated the Sky Carps on Saturday night, 12-3, for their third straight victory over Beloit.

The Captains got off to a great start as they scored four runs in the second and five runs in the third to take a 9-0 lead.

The Captains got on the scoreboard in the second when Yordys Valdes singled to drive in Guardians 18th ranked top prospect Milan Tolentino to take a 1-0 lead.

After Valdes singled, he stole second and then scored on Will Bartlett’s base hit.  Up next, Victor Blanchart singled then moved up to second when Bartlett stole third.

Blanchart and Bartlett both scored when Guardians 7th ranked prospect Jake Fox hit a line drive single to center field.

In the bottom of the third, the Captains added five more runs.

They scored their fifth run when four out of the first five batters in the third inning drew a walk. Then catcher Joe Donovan singled to drive in two more runs to make the score 7-0. The Captains added two more runs in the inning to take a 9-0 lead.

The Captains scored three more runs to make the final 12-3.

In the fifth, Fox drove in a run on an RBI groundout.  

In the seventh, the Captains scored when Joe Donovan doubled to drive in a run.

The Captains then got their final run of the night on a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth by shortstop Milan Tolentino to make the final score 12-3.

With the victory, the Captains have now won five out of their last six games.  

The Captains complete their homestand with Beloit on Sunday at 4pm.
