Lake County Captains Win Fifth Game in a Row – 4th Ranked Guardians Top Prospect Chase DeLauter With Walk-Off Double

Eastlake – The Lake County Captains won their fifth game in a row on Friday night.

Trailing 3-1 in the ninth inning to the Peoria Chiefs, the Captains scored 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth to win 4-3.

In Friday night’s victory, the Captains scored first in the bottom of the first inning.

Jorge Burgos drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to give the Captains a 1-0 lead.

The Chiefs then scored two runs in the sixth inning and one run in the eighth inning to take a 3-1 lead.

The bottom of the ninth started when Victor Planchart singled to start the inning and then Will Bartlett drew a base on balls.

After the next two Captains did not reach base, Chase DeLauter came to the plate.

Then here’s what happened next.  DeLauter took a 1-1 pitch deep to the left field wall.

On the hit, Planchart scored, Bartlett moved to third and DeLauter got to second with a double.

However, the throw back to the infield got away from the Chiefs allowing Bartlett and DeLauter to score giving the Captains a 4-3 victory.

With their fifth victory in a row, the Captains are now three games out of first place in the Mid East Division in the second half standings of the Midwest League.

The Captains will play a doubleheader on Saturday at Classic Park.
