Kenston Pulls Away in Fourth Quarter to Defeat Chardon 31-21

The Kenston Bombers pulled away late in Friday night’s game against Chardon as they scored  the final ten points of the fourth quarter to take home a 31-21 victory and move to 5-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first quarter, Chardon took the lead 7-0 on a 3-yard touchdown run by Andrew Bruce with 9:41 left in the first half.

Kenston tied the game at 7-7 with 4:03 left in the first half when Sean Doyle recovered a Hilltoppers fumble in the end zone.

Chardon took a 14-7 lead when Caleb Hewitt scored on a 15-yard touchdown run with 39 seconds to go in the half.

Kenston would also score in the last minute of the first half on Sean Patrick’s 23-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-14 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, on their first possession of the second half, Chardon scored on Andrew Bruce’s one yard touchdown run to take a 21-14 lead.

The Bombers then scored the next seventeen points of the game to defeat the Hilltoppers 31-21.

First, the Bombers defense scored on an 18-yard fumble return by Ashton Kolenic to make the score 21-21 with 4:38 left in the third quarter.

The Bombers took the lead 28-21 on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Lucas Kaltenbach to Dylan Krupp with 9:06 left in the game.

Kenston would add a field goal by Grady Kucharson with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter to make the final score 31-21.

Kenston will next play Mayfield on Friday while Chardon will also play on Friday against Willoughby South.
