Gilmour Prep And Ohio AAA’s Physical Battle Ends In 2-2 Tie

GATES MILLS, Ohio- The Gilmour Lancers Boy’s Prep Team returned home after a week of tournament play. The first team looking to greet them was the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets. The Lancers looked to return to their dominating ways at home, as they have posted an 8-0 record when they are in the comfortable setting of the Lancer Ice Arena.

The first period was as close to even as you can get between two teams. The Lancers and Blue Jackets played seventeen minutes of physical hockey. Though the opportunities were there for both teams, both penalty kill units were there to halt the offenses. It was a scoreless first frame, as the defensive stands limited both teams from good shots on goal.

The second period was just as gritty, as physical play led the way. The Lancers put the puck in between the pipes first, as Daniel Menges struck first within the first minute of the period. The Blue Jackets tied things up rather quickly, as they took advantage of the power play at the 3:04 mark. Ohio AAA didn’t stop there, as they scored at the 8:00 minute mark of the period. It looked like the game was starting to get away before Menges struck again with twenty-five seconds left. It was tied 2-2 at the end of the second period.

The third period was no different than the first two frames, as both teams played with an intense pace from end board to end board. Unfortunately, that resulted in a lot of penalties and the sin bin had a lot of visitors tonight. Neither team could capitalize on the extra-man advantage, as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
