Fight Night at The Q as Monsters fall to the Amerks

On the day of the week where people usually come together, the Lake Erie Monsters and the Rochester Americans did not fall into the game plan. In fact the Americans, better known as the Amerks went in full fight mode as they took out their frustrations on the Monsters.

The Monsters who came into the game in third place in the Western Conference could not handle a feisty Amerks team as Lake Erie falls 2 to 0. The Amerks, who are 3rd from last place, dished out punishment in the second period, but the Monsters took the bait and suffered on the scoreboard. The scoring and the fighting came in the second period as Stu Wilson and Giorgio Estephan scored their first goals of the season for the Amerks.

Six of the eight penalities in this game took place in the second period. Trent Cogelhuber of the Monsters and Alex Guptill of the Amerks were given major penalties  for fighting. Also  in the second period, roughing penalties were given out to Lake Erie’s John Ramage and Ryan Craig as well as Rochester’s Jean Dupuy.
