East High Dragons Topple Firelands 40-6

The East High School Dragons wasted no time in the first half, scoring three touchdowns within the beginning twelve minutes of play. Senior quarterback Kyre Williams docked the first six points for the scarlet and grey, shoving past the defensive end for a 7-yard touchdown at 9:09 left to tick on the clock.

East Junior Romeo Felton began his own attack, with a 14-yard rush settling the offense at the one-yard line. Felton would then finish the job with a one yard push into the endzone for another Dragon touchdown. The ball would break the plane once more during this twelve-minute span, however, this time with sophomore Richtell McCallister driving two yards inward with 0:21 left in first quarter action. After the extra point was blocked, the Dragons wraped up the beginning quarter with an advantage of 20-0 over the Firestone Falcons.

The energy and drive of the Dragons would not cease, with equal intensity being delivered as lights shone heavily down onto
InfoCision Stadium. Sophomore Deanthony Becton found his stride in the opening minutes of the second quarter with a 50 yard rush sparking the successive plays to deliver a Becton touchdown 3:15 into play.

Becton sped home a quick 6-yard burst. As the score sat comfortably at 28-0, the Dragons stayed hungry. Williams scampered another 26-yard rush to put the ball back in the defensive end of the Falcons. A Becton 2-yard spurt for the fifth Dragon touchdown of the night would extend the lead to 34-0.

Possession changed in the third quarter, with the Firestone Falcons maintaining control of the ball as time ticked away on a running clock, the green and gold ushering their way down the field. The score would remain set, however, the twelve minutes winding down to maintain a 34-0 lead in favor of the Dragons.

The fourth quarter continued this momentum, with the Falcons issuing offensive order as they fought against the crunch for time that continued to wind down without stop. Rozier took full advantage, launching an 18-yard pass with 5:38 left in play to Johnson for a Falcon touchdown, digiting up the scoreboard to show 34-6 with time to spare.

The Dragons weren’t discouraged, pulling together to bring more fire to the field with a 40-yard touchdown scorched into the air by Nakari Virden to land in the swift hands of Michael Grimmett, closing the score to a final of 40-6.

Player of the Game: The player of the game is East High School senior Kyre Williams. Williams ended the game 6/11 with 1 INT for 25 yards, with 6 carries for 62 yds, and clocking 2 TDs.
