Your Crunch Bites, Week 4!

Sami Mutumwa Crunch

Your Crunch Bites for February 12th!

It was a noteworthy week for the Crunch as the I-X Center decided that they were not going to host Crunch games the rest of the season.

It created a problem with scheduling, but Sportsplex in North Olmsted was there with the assist!

I think it’s high time we had a serious discussion on a downtown soccer complex for use by teams like the Crunch and Cleveland SC and high school sports. I’m not sure the city running it would be the best choice, but right now, soccer is on an upswing on the North Coast. Some very intelligent people could have input on the viability of this idea! When will this happen? Haven’t we been asking this for YEARS?

What’s up, doc? Shout out to the Crunch team doctor!

With all the focus this week on the NFL and the sports medicine people who take care of the athletes we love to support, we at NEOSI want to shout out the Crunch and Fusion team doctor, Dr. Laurel Beverley!

And if you want to read her co-authored piece on the opioid epidemic, here it is! Fascinating! And it’s better when you know the statistics behind it, too! Thanks for all you do, Dr Beverley!

Saturday recap! Revenge over Cincy!

After allowing Cincy to score the first goal of the match, Cleveland went on to dominate and defeat the Swerve, 14-7. The Crunch netted nine straight after the first Cincinnati goal.

Man of the Match

Midfielder Tom Beck had a big night with four goals, followed by fellow middie Admir Suljevic’s hat trick and two by Ma’Cain Spragling. The Crunch had 10 assists on the night.

First place!

With the win, the Crunch stay atop the Eastern Division with a one game lead over Grand Rapids. With the loss, the Swerve drop to 2-4 on the year. Cleveland hopes to stay hot with a Sunday evening game in Detroit at the Detroit City Fieldhouse. Match is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. Right during the Super Bowl!

Our Luigi Musto was there last night for these great pictures!

Hyped up!

What a great video by the club with the audio by @nextMike_!

Want offense? Defense? This will get you psyched!

How about this one? A video on the Detroit win last time these two behemoths met. And with the goal cam!!! Perfecto!

Next games

Cleveland will have back to back games against their second place foe, Grand Rapids. February 18th will see the club travel to Michigan, with the return game at Sportsplex on the 25th.

This could determine the Eastern Division championship!

Team Streaks!

As of today, both the Cavaliers and Crunch are riding six and five game winning streaks. The Crunch, with a win tonight, could match their fellow Clevelanders!

Stay well, soccer on, and see you soon!

Anyone want to spearhead the soccer discussion? Time is now for serious discussions to take place. What are your thoughts, Cleveland? Drop a line in the comments with any and all suggestions! Let’s get this started now!
