The 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs sponsored by AUDI started off on an overcast afternoon with both supporters yelling at each other as they waited to enter lower.com stadium. With the weather cold and rain due, the anticipation was great. And then at 4:11 pm, the final began.
But as the match ended with rain, Columbus Crew defeated LAFC, 2-1, to win their third MLS Championship. Scoring for the Crew were Cucho Hernandez on a penalty in the 33rd minute followed four minutes later by Yaw Yeboah with his first of the playoffs.
Denis Bouanga found the back of the net with a nice poke for LAFC.
In the end, Columbus was able to see the seven minutes of added time out and the celebration began.
