Cavs prove they still have plenty of gelling together to do in loss to Wizards; three takeaways

2. I’d like to buy a 3-point shot

The Cavs were abysmal from deep against Washington, going just 8-of 35 compared to Washington’s 12-of-30. Considering it was a close game, that ultimately helped to put the final nail in the coffin.

“Shooting 8-for-35 is going to be tough to beat a lot of teams,” Lue said. “We had some good looks, some good shots. It just didn’t fall for us.”

J.R. Smith went 3-for-8 from deep, While Rodney Hood went 2-for-5 and Kyle Korver went 2-for-6. Cedi Osman, George Hill, Jeff Green and Jordan Clarkson went a combined 0-of-12 from long range.

Overall, it was just one of those shooting nights where looks that would normally fall weren’t. No one in the locker room was panicking for that reason.

“Shots that we are accustomed to making and even great ball movement just wasn’t going down,” James said. “And I’m talking about some wide open looks where guys weren’t even contesting.”
