Browns Claim Center Marcus Martin off Waivers

Along with a flurry of other moves, the Cleveland Browns claimed center Marcus Martin off waivers Thursday.

Martin started 24 games over three seasons with the 49ers after being selected in the third round of the 2014 Draft out of USC.

Martin started all eight games in which he appeared as a rookie. He started 14 games in 2015 while Daniel Kilgore was still recovering from an ankle injury.

But Martin struggled, and he was inactive for nine games in 2016.

Martin made four starts after Kilgore sustained an injury, but he was placed on injured reserve with two games remaining due to an ankle injury.

He will likely serve as backup center to J.C. Tretter, who agreed to a three-year deal with the Browns Thursday.
