Beltre’s Ninth Inning, Two-Out Blast Off Allen Lifts Rangers Over Indians 2-1; Three Takeaways From the Loss

2. Cody’s Two-Out Collapse

It looked like the Indians would have a shot to win the game in the bottom of the 9th as Cody Allen got two quick outs, but then even quicker than the two outs, the Rangers won the game as Adrian Beltre slammed a 401-foot homer to put them up for good 2-1.

Allen said he felt it was a good pitch, but that he Beltre did what he’s done a lot over his career and crushed it to the bleachers in left center for the game winner.

It was a tough pill to swallow for Allen and the Indians, who had a 1-0 lead but couldn’t early take advantage of getting the leadoff man aboard each of the first three innings.

For Allen, it’s his fourth loss of the season, and while he was able to get the final out to give the Tribe a shot, the damage had been done with the single swing of the bat by Beltre to give Texas the win.
