It appears that Texas Rangers star shortstop Corey Seager enjoys the World Series spotlight.

Seager, the 2020 World Series MVP for the Los  Angeles Dodgers, has been clutch so far in the 2023 World Series for the Rangers.

In Game One, it was Seager’s two-run home run that tied the Diamondbacks at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. The Rangers then went on to win game one, 6-5 in the bottom of the 11th.

In Game 3, Seager came to the plate in the top of the third inning after Marcus Semien drove in a Rangers run to make the score 1-0.

With Semien on first base, Seager took the first pitch he saw, a middle-in 86 mph change up, 421 feet over the right field fence to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead.

In the post-game interview Seager talked about the third inning home run.

“Marcus put a good AB together right before me and drove in a run,” said Seager. “And we’re just trying to build off that. This lineup is building off each other constantly. So props to him on the great AB. And fortunately I got a good pitch to hit.

Seager emphasized the importance of getting a good pitch to hit that led to the opportunity to hit a home run.

“Just a good pitch. Fortunately I got it, and fortunately I put a good swing on it,” said Seager.

After the Rangers scored three runs in the third inning, there was no additional scoring in the game until the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Diamondbacks added a run in the bottom of the eighth to make the final score 3-1.

The Rangers now have a 2-1 lead in the World Series.

With the victory the Rangers are now 9-0 on the road which is an MLB postseason record.

In the post-game interview, Seager talked about being 9-0 away from Texas this postseason.

In particular, he emphasized the importance of having the same mental approach to the game regardless if you are playing at home or on the road.

“We’re just showing up to play every day,” said Seager. “We’re trying to win that day. No matter where you are we’re trying to play good baseball every day. I don’t know how to credit it to anything other than that, really.”

In addition, Seager stressed the importance of staying relaxed by having a good mindset throughout the World Series.

“It’s a pass-the-baton mentality for us,” said Seager. “You don’t always have to be the guy that day. And that’s comforting. That takes stress off people. We’ve done a good job of that. We’re hoping to continue to do it.”

The Rangers and the Diamondbacks will be back on the diamond tonight for Game 4 at Chase Field in Arizona.

Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 8:03 pm EST and can be seen on Fox.
