Moon Picks UFC On FOX: Kansas City

In Kansas City tonight, the UFC Flyweight Champion of the world Demetrious Johnson attempts to defends his title for a record-tying tenth time when he faces Wilson Reis. For Reis, he has a chance to shock the world in a fight where he isn’t expected to do anything of note against Johnson. All eyes are on Johnson capturing the record.

In the co-main event, top Strawweight contenders Rose Namajunas and Michelle Waterson will battle for the next shot at the Strawweight title. Both women are excellent fighters trying to make a name for themselves on a big stage, so this is an important fight for the division.

Without further ado, here are my picks for UFC on FOX: Kansas City.

Jeremy Stephens vs. Renato Moicano- Stephens is going to have to look for a bounce-back fight and this will be it. He’ll reposition himself as a Featherweight contender.

Winner: Stephens via first-round knockout

Jacare Souza vs. Robert Whittaker– Souza could eventually fall into trouble by taking non-title fights while waiting for Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping. But after signing an eight-fight contract with the UFC, Jacare is motivated and ready to go. He’ll isolate the heavy hands of Whittaker and finish him off in the second round.

Winner: Souza via second-round submission

Rose Namajunas vs. Michelle Waterson– Waterson looks to get rolling in the UFC after nursing hand injuries earlier in her UFC career. She quickly dismantled Paige Van Zant to prove to everybody she was a top fighter at 115 pounds. Namajunas is looking to bounce back after dropping a fight to Karolina Kowalkiewicz that could have landed her the next title shot. This will be the fight of the night.

Winner: Michelle Waterson via unanimous decision

UFC Flyweight Championship: Demetrious Johnson vs. Wilson Reis– Reis is a very good fighter. Unfortunately for him, he’s fighting the best in the world in Demetrious Johnson. Johnson reminds everyone how great he is with a mix of stand-up and grappling, getting the finish on the ground.

Winner: Johnson via fourth-round submission
