Week 8 POTW Poll: Who Was The Top Performer In Week 8?

Week Seven

Fall is in the air and the high school regular season is winding down. Only two games remain and the playoff picture is starting to take shape. Before we move on to Week 9, it’s time to take a look at some of the top performers from a week ago. We’ve sifted through the performances and come up with five candidates for you to choose from. Who should be named NEOSI Player of the Week? Have your voice heard in the poll below and stay tuned for the results! Poll closes Thursday at noon.

Scotty Fox, Mentor

A candidate in previous polls, the Cardinals sophomore continued to dazzle in their 33-27 comeback win over Solon. After falling behind 21-7, Mentor outscored the Comets 26-6 the rest of the way, due in large part to Fox’s arm. Fox finished 21-36 for 321 yards and four touchdowns. Mentor improved to 4-3 with the victory and currently holds the #4 seed in Region 1.

Rory Corrigan, Independence

The Blue Devils senior didn’t need a lot of touches to make his impact felt in their 35-6 victory on the road at Wickliffe. On only eight carries, Corrigan ran for 197 yards and three touchdowns. His three touchdowns were on runs of 70, 60, and 42, all in the first half. Independence moved to 3-5 with the win and currently holds the #16 seed in Region 21.

Jack Wojciak, Medina

The Bees high-powered offense continued to light it up in their 42-21 victory at Brunswick. Senior Jack Wojciak turned in a dominant performance with nine catches for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Wojciak is now over 800 yards on the season and has ten receiving touchdowns. Medina improved to 7-1 on the year and is the #3 seed in Region 1.

Xzavier Macon, Barberton

The Magics spoiled Aurora’s homecoming game 35-14 and junior Xzavier Macon led the way offensively for Barberton. Macon carried the ball 22 times for 262 yards and four touchdowns, including a 76-yard run to give Barberton an early 7-0 lead. The Magics now sit at 5-3 and are currently the #7 seed in Region 5.

Danny Stoddard, Medina

We try not to have multiple candidates from the same team, but when Stoddard keeps putting up big numbers that makes it nearly impossible. In their 42-21 road win over Brunswick, the Medina junior went 25-34 for 336 yards and four touchdowns, along with two rushing scores. Currently the #3 seed in Region 1, Medina hits the road again this week to take on Lorain.

There you have them, the candidates for NEOSI Player of the Week. Have your voice heard in our poll and be sure to share it with your friends so your candidate brings home this week’s honors! Poll closes Thursday at noon.
