Week Seven

Last Friday’s first round playoff action was electric, with numerous jaw-dropping performances from area athletes. Before we move onto round two, let’s take a moment to highlight some of the top performers. We’ve combed through all the stats and come up with this week’s four nominees. Who do you think should take home NEOSI Player of the Week? Have your voice heard in the poll below! Voting closes Thursday at noon.

Marco Cirigliano, Columbia

Our Week 3 winner, Cirigliano continues to dominate his opponents. In the Raiders first round win over Mapleton, Cirigliano racked up 247 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. Columbia improved to 11-0 with the victory and look to continue their undefeated march this Friday against Hopewell-Loudon (9-2).

Ethan Holbrook, Avon

The Eagles earned the #1 seed in Region 6 and Ethan Holbrook is a big reason why. A previous Player of the Week nominee, the Avon senior continues to put up impressive performances. In their 49-0 win over Westlake, Holbrook hauled in five catches for 204 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half. The Eagles continue their playoff run this Friday in a matchup with North Royalton (7-4).

Justin Bremner, Walsh Jesuit

A star on the baseball diamond, Justin Bremner went all-out in the Warriors 56-20 victory over Maple Heights. The senior RB carried the ball 30 times for 236 yards and a whopping five touchdowns. The #6 seed in Region 5, Walsh Jesuit will hit the road this week to take on undefeated Hudson (11-0).

Rocco Conti, Olmsted Falls

Another previous Player of the Week nominee, Conti did it all in the Bulldogs 56-35 win over Toledo St. John’s Jesuit. On just 17 carries, the Olmsted Falls senior RB ran for 236 yards and four touchdowns, adding another on a 20-yard reception. The Bulldogs are the #5 seed in Region 6 and will hit the road this Friday to square off with #4 seed Whitehouse Anthony Wayne (10-1).

There you have it, the four nominees for this week’s NEOSI Player of the Week award. Have your voice heard in the poll and be sure to share with your friends and family so your choice brings home this week’s honors! Poll closes Thursday at noon.
