Tristan Thompson to Sit Out Next Two Preseason Games

Cavaliers power forward/center Tristan Thompson will sit out the next two preseason games to rest a sore foot.

Thompson did not play in the preseason opener on Wednesday night and should be ready to return for the fourth preseason game against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Quicken Loans Arena.

The 25-year-old is entering his sixth NBA season and is the current leader in consecutive games played, appearing in 370 straight regular season contests.

When adding playoff games into that mix, Thompson has played in 411 straight games.

He also holds the Cavaliers franchise record.

Keeping all of that in mind, it makes sense for Thompson to have a light preseason, as he’ll look to extend that streak throughout the 2016-17 campaign.

Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue said he supports Thompson’s quest to keep the streak going as long as possible and that could play a part in the decision to have the 6-foot-10 Canadian sit out these next two preseason games.

Kyrie Irving will play on Saturday night after resting in the preseason opener. As of now, LeBron James is expected to play. LeBron played 13 minutes in the preseason opener and fans should expect a similar workload throughout most of the preseason.
