Trinetti and Styles Lead Lake Catholic to a 42-14 Victory Over NDCL on Saturday Night – Trinetti Sets School Record For TD Passes

Frankie Trinetti and Josh Styles helped Lake Catholic continue their excellent season on Saturday night as the Cougars defeated the Notre Dame Cathedral Latin Lions, 42-14. In addition, Frankie Trinetti set a Lake Catholic school record by throwing for 31 regular season touchdowns.

In Saturday night’s game, NDCL scored first to take a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter on a Brayden Buell touchdown run.

 

Lake Catholic then tied the game at 7-7 on a 4-yard touchdown run by DJ Sears.

 

After NDCL took a 14-7 lead on Brayden Buell’s second touchdown of the game, Trinetti connected with Ace Peterlin to tie the game at 14-14 with 10:36 left in the second quarter.

 

Trinetti then ran for a 14-yard touchdown with 44 seconds left in the half to give Lake Catholic a 21-14 lead going into halftime.

 

In the second half, Lake Catholic scored 21 unanswered points to seal the victory.

Lake Catholic made the score 28-14 when Trinetti threw his second touchdown pass of the game. Trinetti found Cross Nimo open for a two-yard touchdown pass.

The Cougars added an additional touchdown in the third quarter when Josh Styles scored on a 6-yard touchdown run to make the score 35-14.

 

Lake Catholic scored their final touchdown of the game on a Josh Styles one-yard touchdown run.

 

For the game, Trinetti threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns.  During the regular season, Trinetti completed 152 passes for 2,563 yards and had a quarterback rating of 122.

Leading the Cougars on the ground and in receiving yards was senior running back Josh Styles who rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, Styles caught four passes for 80 yards.

On the season, Styles rushed for 1,350 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 8 yards per carry. Styles also had 18 catches for 244 yards and one receiving touchdown. 

With the victory, Lake Catholic completes the regular season with an 8-2 record.

Lake Catholic will next play Field in the first round of the OHSAA Playoffs on Friday, October 27th.
