With the playoffs looming around the corner, Walsh Jesuit (16-3-1) took down Medina (16-5) 2-1 in a battle of two of Division I’s best. Harper Lann, Kevin Holland, and Raul Gamez teamed up to hold the Bees batAfter both teams stranded a runner in the first, Walsh would find their way onto the scoreboard in the second. After walks to Zachary Halligan and Justin Bremmer and a single by Matthew Serdinak, the Warriors had the bases loaded with nobody out.

After Serdinak was thrown out at home on a fielder’s choice, Ryan DePerro drew a bases loaded walk to put Walsh up 1-0. Harper Lann cruised through the Medina lineup up for four innings, leaving the game with a one-run lead. In the top of the fifth, Andrew Holcomb drew a leadoff walk for the Warriors. Two batters later, Holcomb would come across on a Serdinak sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 2-0. Keys to the Game

The Warrior’s pitching staff was magnificent Tuesday evening, combining to throw a one-hitter. Lann picked up the win for Walsh going four innings and striking out six. Offensively, Matthew Serdinak led the way by driving in a run and scoring one of his own.

Despite picking up the loss, Jack Geiser pitched a great game for Medina. In his five innings of work, Geiser left eight Warriors stranded on base, keeping the game within range of his offense.
