The Browns Free Agency Outlook

free agency

As we’re nearing the start of the NFL free agency the Cleveland Browns have some exciting prospects. One of the top names to look at that we could see suited up in the brown and orange is safety, Jessie Bates. He’s coming off a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals and having an interest in playing with Watson (was reported by Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com) The two players (Watson and Bates) share the same agent, which could be something positive to look at for Browns fans. Over Bates’ 5-year rookie deal with the Bengals, he put up some exceptionally good stats including,14 Interceptions, and 479 tackles.

Another name that’s been floated around the Browns Organization is Fletcher Cox. The defensive tackle is coming off of a contract with the Eagles. Now it’s interesting how he just made a super bowl with his current team, and he’d be willing to leave. However, many players and coaches around the league have said that they’re impressed with Coach Kevin Stefanski. That feeling of being impressed also lends to the recent coaching hires we’ve made. New Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz  has coached Cox in the past. Also, the addition of new Special Teams coordinator/assistant head coach Bubba Ventrone, has caught the attention of many. With these coaching changes Cleveland could be considered a free agent hot spot in the coming weeks.

We have no way of knowing what the Browns front office will do however, It is likely they’re planning on making a splash in free agency. Especially after releasing John Johnson III to free up some cap space. With the information we have all we can do is sit back and watch!
