Report: J.R. Smith to Re-Sign with the Cavaliers

The Cavs may have lost out on Dwayne Wade to the Bulls, but from all indications are getting back their biggest free agent, as the team is expected to re-sign shooter J.R. Smith.

Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com reports that Smith is expected to re-sign with the team, making sure they keep him with the team after he averaged 12.4 points per game in 77 games last season.

Since coming to the Cavs he’s been solid, putting up 12.5 points per game and shooing 41.9 percent. He hit on 39.6 percent of three point shots last season also.

The 12-year vet was a first-round pick, 18th overall by New Orleans back in 2004, and at 30 years old still has plenty of gas left in the tank.

He’s also a big fan favorite, known for now wearing a shirt during portions of the Cavs title celebration which prompted a shirt of the likeness of his bare chest.
