Ohio State Opens Basketball Season with Win over Robert Morris; Cruise to 91-52 victory

Ohio State Basketball

Columbus, OH-

The madness is finally back. Well, not quite “March Madness,” but the 22-23 college basketball season is officially upon us!

The Ohio State men’s team welcomed Robert Morris to town on Monday night to kick off their season. The Buckeyes wasted little time giving the fans a show while making a statement in the process. Senior guard Justice Sueing led the way for the Buckeyes with 20 points on 8-14 from the field and 2-3 from behind the arc. Fellow starter and Junior guard Zed Key finished with 13 points and a team high 10 rebounds, earning himself the lone double-double for the Buckeyes. True Freshman guard Brice Sensabaugh led the way for the 2nd team with 17 points and nine total rebounds.

As impressive as the Buckeyes were on the offensive side of the ball, leading by as much as 40 points, they were just as dominant on the defensive side. The Buckeyes held the Colonials to just 31.7% from the field and 16.7% from 3-point range. Total rebounds were also a mismatch as the Buckeyes out rebounded Robert Morris by more than 20 rebounds (48-27) while forcing 11 turnovers.

Currently unranked to enter the season, the Buckeyes will face a difficult road separating themselves from the rest of the Big Ten. Indiana (#13), Michigan (#22), and Illinois (#23) all stand ahead of Ohio State to begin the season. Luckily for the Buckeyes, they will get a shot at all three teams as they will travel to Champaign, Bloomington, and Ann Arbor later on in the season to do battle with their conference rivals

The Buckeyes continue their season on Thursday, November 10th when they welcome the Charleston Southern Buccaneers to Columbus. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
