Northeast Ohio Standout Softball Players Participate with NFL and NBA Players in Greg Newsome Celebrity Softball Game

Eastlake – Start practicing your softball now Northeast Ohio sports fans and one day you might also have an opportunity to play with NFL and NBA players in celebrity softball.

That awesome experience came true for local Northeast Ohio residents and standout softball players, Todd Adelman, Andrew Krieger, and Kevin Laux.

Thanks to Greg Newsome Softball, Adelman, Krieger, and Laux were invited to participate in the Greg Newsome Softball Home Run Derby and Softball Game with the NFL and NBA players and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Terrell Owens.

After the conclusion of the event, Adelman, a member of the Beachwood Men’s Softball League Hall of Fame, discussed the meaningfulness of this exciting opportunity.

“It was such an incredible experience for me to be able to participate in the Greg Newsome Celebrity Softball Game,” said Adelman. “Not only to meet all of these unbelievable athletes, but to be on the field and able to play softball with them was incredible. I’m so appreciative to Greg Newsome for hosting the event and to the entire Lake County Captains organization who always do such an amazing job! It was an honor for me. Andrew Grover, the emcee, who is such a huge part of the event, is such an incredible guy who does such an amazing job at the event, and at every Captains game for that matter! He does such a great job electrifying the crowd.”

 

Adelman also noted the support he got from the players in the Beachwood Men’s Softball League and mentioned how great it was to participate in the event with his teammate, Kevin Laux.

“One of the best hitters in the league, Kevin Laux, who is also my teammate this year was also in the event, so it was special to have him there as well! It was very nice to have the Beachwood Softball connections and representations at such a great event!”

Adelman, Krieger, and Laux all participated in both the home run derby and the softball game. Adelman pitched all three rounds of the derby, while Krieger and Laux competed against the pros in the derby.

In fact, while competing against the professional athletes in the Home Run Derby, both Krieger and Laux advanced to the semifinals. 

Adelman also noted how great it was to have his family in attendance to watch the event.

“It was also very special for me to have my wife, Kelly, my father, Larry, and my nephew, Caden Vincent in the crowd to watch me.”
