Manziel’s Lawyer Sends Accidental Text to Reporter; Hopes His Client Won’t Be Drug Tested

Johnny Manziel’s lawyer, Bob Hinton, sent an erroneous text message to an AP reporter, saying “Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle.”

The text was sent in response to Hinton being asked to comment on the status of Manziel’s domestic abuse case, which the former-Browns quarterback and his lawyer hope is resolved with leniency rather than a harsh sentence.

Hinton said he had intended to send it to another attorney on the case and did not know the AP had received it instead.

The report also claims that Hinton was made aware of Manziel spending over $1,000 dollars at a drug paraphernalia store.

Hinton claims that Manziel’s name was not on the receipt of the purchase, but an employee at the store notified other employees.

Manziel has said he plans to play in the NFL in 2016, but no teams have shown interest since his release form the Browns.
