Mahoning/Columbiana/Ashland/ Wayne All-Stars get Dramatic comeback victory in NEOBCA All-Star Game at Canal Park

 

Akron – On June 28 at Canal Park, the third NEOBCA All-Star Game included the Portage/Lake/Trumbull (PLT) County All-Star Team who took on the Mahoning/Columbiana/Ashland/ Wayne (MCAW) County All-Star Team.

In the final game of the day, the Summit County Navy All-Star Team took on the Summit County Red All-Star Team.

 

In the third all-star game, the MCAW All-Star Team defeated the PLT All-Star Team, 7-4.

Before the start of the third all star game, earlier in the day, PLT All-Star Adam Knaak from Kirtland was awarded the NEOBCA Division IV Co-Player of the Year Award.

With the help of clutch singles by Knaak and Kirtland teammate Luke Chuko, the PLT All-Stars took a 3-0 first inning lead when Emmanuel Miller from Ravenna drove in three runs with a bases loaded double.

 

After the PLT All-Stars added a run in the third inning, the MCAW All-Stars scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning when Jesse McKee from Crestview drove in two runs with a single.

 

Trailing 4-2 heading into the top of the sixth, the MCAW All-Stars made a dramatic comeback when they plated five runs.  

The Comeback Begins!

First, Kade Whitman from Triway tripled to drive in two runs and tie the score, 4-4. 

 

Then Cooper Barton from Triway singled to drive in the go ahead run. 

 

The MCAW All-Stars added two final runs in the same inning to make the final score 7-4.

 

Justin Basinger from Dalton was named the MVP for the MCAW All-Stars, while Emmanuel Miller was named the MVP for the PLT All-Stars.

 

 

 

“Going into the game, I was honestly very tired, but getting the hit that I got (in the first inning) felt really good,” said Miller.

 

“I also had a good throw to home that ended the inning. That felt really good.”

 

“It just felt really nice playing alongside a bunch of rivals from throughout the season. It felt good to come together as one team and play together.”

Summit Navy defeat Summit Red

In the final NEOBCA All-Star game of the day at Canal Park, the Summit County Navy All-Star Team defeated the Summit County Red All-Star Team, 9-1.

 

The MVP for the Summit County Navy All-Star team was Cameron Allen from Ellet, while the MVP for the Red All-Star Team was Damian Smith from Cuyahoga Falls.
