Johnson steals the show in Jon Bones Jones return!

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Well, he came back and won, but was that really the Jon Bones Jones who was the most dominant competitor in the history of MMA? We are not real sure and by the sounds of it, nether is he.

Jones looked good at times in his 5 round decision win over Ovince St. Preux but never looked like the dominant champion of old who no one could come even close to touching. Perhaps it was ring rust, or just an awkward style presented by Saint Preux, but he looked far from his old self at times.

Whatever the case may be, Jones is back and if he can keep his nose clean long enough he will get his match with current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier soon enough. Cormier never beat Jones for the title, and that will have him motivated enough to reclaim it.

In the co-main event of UFC 197 Demetrious Johnson looked like the best pound for pound fighter in the world as he dominated number one contender and former Olympic Gold medalist Henry Cejudo in just 2 minutes and 49 seconds.

In what was supposed to be Jones night, turned into a showcase for the brilliant effort by Johnson. He countered any take down attempt by Cejudo and picked him apart with ease with several body shots before putting him away with a flurry of shots capped off by a flying knee. Johnson proved why many consider him the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

Mighty Mouse has now won 10 straight fights, including two over Joseph Benavidez to completely clean out the Flyweight division. The streak also includes two wins over John Dodson.

The undercard also saw former Light Weight Champion Anthony Pettis lose his third straight fight as Edson Barboza picked him apart with kicks to his thigh and left Pettis battered, bruised and beaten after a three round decision.

For Barboza, it is a win that will vault him into the title picture quickly.

The UFC will next be showcased on May 8th, with a Fight Night Card on Fox Sports One as Alistair Overeem takes on Andreis Arlovski.
