James registers 62nd career triple double; Carter tallies season-high 24 points in 109-95 loss to Kings; Three takeaways

  1. Three-pointers provide spark, erase seven-point margin

J.R. Smith and Kevin Love came out of the locker room with the shooter’s touch, knocking down 5-of-6 treys in the first eight minutes of the third quarter alone. The duo was able to spread the floor and keep the Kings’ heads on a swivel, particularly through ball movement and quick releases.

The 64-55 deficit quickly evaporated and turned into a 67-66 lead with eight minutes, 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Sacramento kept pace with Cleveland throughout the period, but the offensive onslaught temporarily silenced over 17,000 fans on the West Coast.

Aside from James, Love and Smith spearheaded the Cavs’ production with a team-high 23 and 16 points respectively. Kyle Korver knocked down a trio of three-pointers to finish with nine points, the fourth-highest mark on the roster.
