Kellen Mond

Berea- 74-72! Wow! That was an amazing college football game between the Texas A&M Aggies and the LSU Tigers on November 24, 2018.

Not only was there one overtime, there were seven overtimes!

And who threw the winning two point conversion pass to beat the Joe Burrow led LSU Tigers?

Kellen Mond!

In this amazing college football game, current Cleveland Browns Quarterback Kellen Mond, the Texas A&M starting quarterback on November 24, 2018, threw a successful pass for a two point conversion to give the Aggies a 74-72 victory in seven overtimes over 7th ranked LSU.

On that day, Mond had six touchdown passes and also successfully completed three two point conversion passes in the seven overtime victory.

Mond, an IMG Academy alum and former Texas A&M Aggie, was drafted in the third round of the 2021 draft by the Minnesota Vikings. After spending the 2021 season with the Vikings, Mond spent the 2022 NFL football season with the Cleveland Browns.

Now in his third NFL season, Mond has been named the starter for Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game against the New York Jets.

Kellen Mond Talks About Being Named the Starter for the Hall of Fame Game against the Jets

On Tuesday afternoon, Mond expressed his excitement about starting the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday.

“I’m really excited,” said Mond. “First time putting a Browns jersey on in a game, going to be able to start (the) Hall of Fame Game and have been off to a good start in training camp. So, I’m really excited.”

Mond sees this opportunity to start on Thursday in the Hall of Fame Game as very important. In particular, he talked about staying focused on the goal of performing  optimally during the game and putting points on the board.

“I think when you start to get more experience in the NFL, you start to realize whatever you put on tape is going to be what people think of you and going to be your results,” said Mond. “So, every time you step on the field, your goal should be to put good film on tape, play well, execute, and at the end of the day, put the ball in the end zone. So that’s what I’m most excited for.”

Mond said that he sees camp going well and expects to be with the Cleveland Browns this season.

“I see myself as a Cleveland Brown and like I said, just trying to continue to get better and figure out how I can continue to improve myself and how I can provide value to Deshaun and other coaches.”

Browns Offensive Coordinator Alex Van Pelt Discusses Quarterback Performance

The Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt talked about the Browns quarterbacks during Tuesday’s press conference.

In particular, Van Pelt provided an evaluation of how Mond and quarterback Dorian Thompson Robinson have been progressing at the quarterback position.

“Both those guys have had a really good camp,” said Van Pelt. “They’ve had limited reps at times, kind of switching days back and forth between who gets those set of reps. For DTR, just continue to grow. Kellen’s a little bit ahead as far as mentally (being) in the system longer. But both those guys, they go out there, they’re exceptional with their footwork, their timing, and their ability to get through progression. So excited to see that live and then add the element of them using their legs as well. I think it’s going to be a fun night.”

The Hall of Fame Game will be played on Thursday night at 8pm at Tom Benson Stadium at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
