Gilmour, Perry, Chagrin Falls and Beachwood Girls Track and Field Teams Finish in Top Four at Districts

Perry High School hosted the OHSAA Division II District Championships on May 18 and May 20.

The Gilmour girls track team finished first in the district, while Perry finished second, Chagrin Falls was third and Beachwood was fourth.

Gilmour won six events at districts including the 100m (Mariyah Moore), the 4x200m (Ella Barnhart, Rielyn Jackson, Addie Nemeth, Mariyah Moore),1600m (Amy Weybrecht), 4x100m (Rielyn Jackson, Addie Nemeth, Mariyah Moore, Morgan Slough), 800m (Amy Weybrecht), and the 200m (Mariyah Moore).

For Perry, Addy Trefzger won the pole vault and Grace Mckoon won the 3200m.

In addition, the Perry 4x100m team talked about qualifying for regionals.

“I am a senior, so I was really fortunate to be able to qualify for Regionals before the season ended,” said Carli McGonnell.

 

Added Alyssa Liddy, “I am very fortunate to have such a great team to qualify us for regionals.”

Also, Beachwood’s Kylie Walters won the long jump and Madison Torbert won the shot put and discus.

“I threw a 36’2″ (in the shot put) that was able to get me first place,” said Torbert. “Honestly, with that throw, I’m kind of happy with it because I feel like I am getting back on track with me improving and hopefully being able to fill the shoes that my seniors were able to fill for me when they were here.”

Chagrin Falls also won two events. They won the 4x800m (Mila Gresh, Leah Kler, Lilly Stukus, Belka Radomsky),  and the 4x400m (Mila Gresh, Riley McClintock, Lilly Stukus, Belka Radomsky).  

OHSAA Regionals for Track and Field will take place between May 24th and May 27th.
