Cleveland District Semi-Final High School Hockey Game Postponed due to “Zamboni Leak”

#2 St. Edward’s High School faced off with #3 Padua Franciscan in the Brooklyn, Ohio District Semi-Final on Wednesday night.

It was an intense playoff atmosphere with a packed arena for a battle between two of Cleveland’s hockey powerhouses.

Until the crowd was told to evacuate the arena due to “a leak in the zamboni room.” It was later announced that there was an ammonia leak.

After two periods, St. Ed’s led 3-0 and was one period away from moving on to the District Final where they would face their archrival, St. Ignatius, for a chance to advance to the State Final Four in Columbus.

Fans were informed of the safety hazard just minutes before the final period was about to begin.

The rest of the game was rescheduled to resume play at 6 PM on Thursday evening. The game will pick up at the start of the third period. Fans left the arena confused. The public address announcer seemed equally confused making the announcement.
