Cleveland Legacy Blows Out Youngstown Nighthawks 14-3 to Remain Unbeaten

The Youngstown Nighthawks showed up in North Olmsted Saturday Night to take on the Cleveland Legacy in a cross town shootout. The Legacy came into the game 3-0-2 and remained unbeaten with a 14-3 whooping of the Nighthawks.

The Legacy outscored the Nighthawks 4-0 in the first quarter Saturday night and never looked back.  Goals in the first quarter were scored by Admir Suljevic (2), Ryan Minick and Cameron Johnson.

For Admir Suljevic it was another big night as those two goals were part of four he had on the night.  The combo of Suljevic and Mikey Derezic have been dominant this season.  They have an unbelievable chemistry on the field.

Head coach Lou Kastelic comments on why they are so good together, “They have been playing together since college at Cleveland State and grew up in the Mentor Area together as well.  I knew that right away coming into the season that their line would be pretty potent and it was.”

The Legacy continued to roll in the second quarter and led 7-1 at the break.  Goals in the second quarter were scored by Mikey Derezic, Mike Matlock and Boban Cancar.  It was quite the night for Cancar as well as he finished with 3 goals himself.

The Youngstown Nighthawks switched goalies coming into the second half, going from Tyler Little to Bryce Blazek but it wouldn’t matter.  It was more dominance by the Legacy in the second half.

The third quarter saw goals by Ryan Minick, Admir Suljevic, Boban Cancar and Cameron Johnson to make it 11-2 after three.

Coach Lou made a switch of his own goalies going into the final quarter, replacing starter Miski Petkovic with Josh Doorichko.  Both goal keepers have been excellent this season.  The Legacy used goals by Boban Cancar, Josh Grossman and Admir Suljevic to neutralize a goal by Youngstowns Jake Young to finish of the Nighthawks 14-3 and move to 4-0-2 on the season.

Interesting note coming into this one, both teams are owned by Josh Audin who also played in the game as a member of the Nighthawks.
