Cavs Interested in Marcus Thornton

The Cavaliers are reportedly interested in Marcus Thornton, formerly of the Houston Rockets.

Thornton averaged ten points per game in 47 games this season, but was not at the top of the Cavs’ wish list after the trade deadline passed. He was originally supposed to be traded to the Detroit Pistons before the trade deadline, but the NBA vetoed the trade.

Joe Johnson chose to sign with Miami and Kevin Martin is reportedly interested in joining the Spurs.

It is interesting that Thornton is considering Miami, where Johnson already chose to go instead of Cleveland.

The Cavs have one open roster spot currently after signing Jordan McRae to a ten-day contract, but it’s not clear if McRae will remain in Cleveland beyond that.

Thornton was released just before the March 1 playoff-eligibility deadline, which means he could play in the postseason if another team signs him.
