Cavs clap back against Thunder with 120-112 win; three takeaways

3. Basketball is fun again!

It’s obviously only been two games with the new additions from the trade deadline, so there are still plenty of things that need to be ironed out with this Cavs team.

However, as stated at the beginning, winning their final four games leading into the All-Star break, including three games in a row on the road, was a feat that was unthinkable for the Cavs a week ago.

As Koby Altman put it, that feeling of a “slow death-march” was looming large. But now, after shipping out six players and shipping in four new ones, the Cavs look like they are having fun again, and at least, for now, have been fun to watch again.

LeBron James is back to normal form. J.R. Smith (who put up 18 points) is finding his shot again. The new guys are bringing a new energy on both ends of the floor, as evidenced by this play alone.

It’s too early to tell anything substantial from just two regular season games, but these feelings didn’t really exist with the first iteration of the Cavs this season. That in and of itself is a massive step in the right direction.
