The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially announced their roster for the 2016 Samsung NBA Summer League team, which is to be held July 8-18 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fans of the Cavaliers may recognize some of the players who are slated to participate on this year’s summer squad. Some members of the Cavaliers roster include: (G) Jordan McRae, (PG) Kay Felder (54th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft), (F) Sir’Dominic Pointer, and (G) Michael Stockton (Canton Charge).
Cavs fans can catch all 67 games of Vegas Summer League action on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, and WatchESPN. NBA TV will air 30 games, beginning with a Cavaliers-Bucks showdown on July 8th at 6 p.m. EST. The Cox Pavilion and UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center are set to host all of this year’s events.
Teams are to play three preliminary games to determine seeding for the tournament. The schedule for Cleveland’s preliminary games is as follows:
* Friday, July 8 vs. Milwaukee – 6:00 p.m. at Cox Pavilion
* Saturday, July 9 vs. Brooklyn – 4:30 p.m. at Thomas & Mack
* Monday, July 11 vs. Minnesota – 8:30 p.m. at Thomas & Mack
The first round of summer league tournament play is scheduled to start on July 13th. Second round games will be played July 14th. A consolation game will be held on July 15th.
Quarterfinal matches will be on July 16th. Semi-final games are to be played July 17th. The NBA Summer League Finals will be July 18th.
General consensus is that McRae may have the best chance of making Cleveland’s active roster to start the 2016-2017 season.
Felder, however, will also be looking to make a name for himself. All of these players have worked extremely hard getting to this point in their respective careers.
