Browns Will Go Week-By-Week With Garrett

Story written by Tim Whelan:

It’s the first week of the 2017 NFL season. The Cleveland Browns are already off to a rough start and they didn’t even play a game yet. At roughly 9 a.m., the Browns and the rest of the world found out the fate of Myles Garrett’s ankle injury.

Rookie Defensive End Myles Garrett hurt his right ankle in Wednesday’s practice. The number one overall draft pick will be sidelined for at least week one versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Multiple reports have surfaced that Myles Garrett could miss three to six weeks.

Head Coach Hue Jackson had this to say about the timetable:

“We are going to be week-to-week. Let’s see where we are week-to-week, and we will go from there.”

Jackson also added his thoughts on the injury:

“Obviously, we would like to have him out there. But again, as I said several times before with not just his situation, these things happen in football. Unfortunate. He is one of our better players, and we wish we had them all out there. But we will have out there at some point in time soon. We will go from there.”

The Browns also made news as practice ended, releasing DB Calvin Pryor III. Calvin Pryor III and WR Ricardo Louis had gotten into a fight before practice. The team chose to release Pryor. Hue Jackson called it an “internal matter” and wouldn’t get into any details.

The Browns’ corresponding move was re-signing DE Tyrone Holmes. In order to make room, the Browns waived OL Zach Sterup. The Browns also released DB Calvin Pryor III and QB Josh Woodrum, who they had claimed off waivers.

The Cleveland Browns will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at 1 pm on CBS. Rookie Quarterback DeShone Kizer will make his NFL debut.
