Baker or Bernie – How Does Browns Rookie QB Mayfield Compare in His First Seven Starts to Browns Legend QB Kosar?

2. Touchdowns

Again you have to remember that Browns team from 1985 was a team that boasted a great run game under head coach Marty Schottenheimer, as they pounded backs Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner all season long, so the passing game wasn’t as big of a part of the teams’ game as it is in today’s NFL.

With that, Kosar in his first seven starts threw just four touchdowns, one each against Houston, the Raiders, the Bengals and the Bills.

Mayfield has been much better than Kosar in the throwing TD’s department, as in his first seven starts he’s thrown 13 touchdowns, throwing for no less than one in each game to this point.

His most was a three TD game (which came against the Falcons Sunday), and he’s also thrown two TD’s in four of his other starts to this point.
