Avon Lake Shoremen 2017: You CAN Come Home Again

Sheffield Lake, Ohio –  In 2003, new Shoremen head coach Matt Kostelnik won a State Football Championship with Avon Lake under departed former coach Dave Dlugosz, now he replaces him.

The former All- American at Mount Union will lead the Shoremen, who come off an incredible playoff run in 2016, that included a memorable 27-26 last second victory over arch rival Avon.

A stingy Avon Lake defense returns 6 starters, anchored by Safety Andrew Butrey, whose late interception in the waning seconds, sealed the upset of Avon in last seasons’ playoff thriller.

A new QB and changes in the offensive line will take some time to gel with their spread offense, but 4 offensive starters return which should be able to quickly ease the transition.

Returning Offensive Starters

Caleb Burr, WR/RB/CB, Sr.

Andrew Butrey, WR/S, Sr.

Ryan Beckman, G, 6-3, Jr.

Kyle Leitch, C, 6-0,  Sr.

Returning Defensive Starters

Cutter Briggs, DT, 6-3, Sr.
