Strongsville Defeats Elyria 4-1 In Impressive Fashion

The Mustangs Boys Varsity Soccer Team dug down deep on Tuesday night to seal a share of the GCC crown with a thrilling 4-1 come-from-behind victory over visiting Elyria. The Pioneers took the lead on a PK in the 20th minute and seemed to have the upper hand when the Mustangs went down to 10 men on a double yellow card ejection.

The boys dug down deep and it was all Mustangs in the 2nd half. SR Matt Bush “sniffed” a rebound after the Elyria GK saved a JR Michael Neumann PK attempt. The Mustangs poured it on the remainder of the match with JR Sam Majka taking a Neumann free kick and flicking in past the Pioneer keeper. Neumann found SR Santos Zamudio for the 3rd goal on the night and JR Michael Tusick finished off the scoring taking a SO Gus Miller pass.

SR GK Nolan Kellogg made 3 saves on the night. The team’s overall record stands at 12-2-1 and 5-1-1 in the GCC. With Shaker holding Medina to a 0-0 draw it allowed the Mustangs to share the GCC title w/ the Bees and Solon. Up next is the final regular season match w/ Jackson on Saturday, October 13th @ 10am @ the Ehrnfelt Soccer Complex.
